In Vitro：Zanamivir，a novel neuraminidase inhibitor，is effective at decreasing replication of the virus in vitro. [2] His274Asn，as well as His274Gly，His274Ser，and His274Gln，also displayed reduced sensitivity to zanamivir and its analogue，4-amino-Neu5Ac2en. [3] In HPF3，zanamivir and its analogs have an affinity not only for the neuraminidase active site of HN but also for sites important for receptor binding and cell fusion.[4]
In Vivo：Zanamivir，a novel neuraminidase inhibitor，is effective at decreasing replication of the virus in vitro. In a model of lethal challenge in mice，zanamivir reduces lung titers of the virus and decreases morbidity and mortality.[2]
